Save Ferndene Park Toilets and Facilities
Ferndene Park - one of Ryton’s most popular recreation areas - has a bit of a problem! You can’t spend a penny there because the park’s toilets have been closed.
Lib Dem campaigner Steve Kelly is taking on this challenge. “People contacted us recently to tell us about the problems caused by the lack of a working loo in Ferndene Park,” said
Steve.
“The problem was especially difficult in the summer holidays when mums and dads brought their kids to the park for a day out, but spending a penny was a problem and some families have
decided to go elsewhere. A number of residents took to social media to express their concerns at the lack of toilet facilities. It isn’t just children who have been caught short. Older people
and carers bringing disabled residents have been caused an inconvenience by the absence of loos.nWe want the council to work with residents and park volunteers to reopen the toilets. So don’t get cause with nowhere to spend a penny. Sign out petition calling for the problem to be sorted.”

Save Winter Fuel Payments
The new Labour Government is failing older people across the country, with their cuts to the Winter Fuel Payments.
- Household heating bills are set to rise again this winter. Yet one of the first acts of this new Labour Government has been to remove the £300 winter fuel payment from millions of pensioners.
- Stopping these payments is just plain wrong - and Liberal Democrats will fight this decision.
- Vulnerable older people in our community should not be forced to choose between eating and heating this winter. Major charities - including Age UK - have spoken out against this cut, arguing it risks damaging the health of so many older people.
- Lib Dem MPs in Parliament have been leading calls for the new Government to re-think this damaging decision.
Save Winter Fuel Payments
Back the Liberal Democrat campaign to protect the Winter Fuel Payment. We urge the Labour Government to reverse their damaging decision - which will leave many older people vulnerable this winter.
