I’m standing as a Liberal Democrat candidate for Lamesley and Birtley North.

I care deeply about the community and strive to be a councillor who listens and works hard to deliver real change to help improve the community.

My priorities are:

  • Supporting cleaner streets by tackling fly tipping and improving regular maintenance of the roads and pavements.
  • Tackle antisocial behaviour by working with the community and police to ensure people feel safe in their neighbourhoods.
  • Support local business and community groups as I believe they are the heart of what makes the area special.

I want to push for better access to services and opportunities for everyone.  Above all, I will be an approachable, friendly and active councillor who listens to the community and ensures their voices are heard.

I have lived and worked in Gateshead for over 30 years. I’m a magistrate, a veteran, and I continue to serve locally through the Army Cadet Force.

Gateshead is a fantastic place to live and work—but there is more we can do. That’s why I’m standing to be your councillor.

I want to help bring Gateshead town centre back to life, making it a vibrant and welcoming place for everyone. I want improve our daily commutes and I’m committed to ensuring every child in our community gets the best possible start in life.

Cameron Wallace is a digital designer and branding strategist who has launched several start-ups — and now he’s focused on making Birtley North and Lamesley better for everyone who lives there.

A lifelong North Easterner, Cameron has seen how government shortcomings can drag communities down. He’s determined to tackle problems head-on and ensure residents are heard and respected.

Cameron’s priorities include:

  • Better youth facilities — improving and modernising youth clubs so young people have safe spaces, proper infrastructure, and real opportunities. It is your right to have access to leisure facilities… with working infrastructure.
  • Accountable public transport — holding operators to account for decent, affordable, accessible services across Gateshead, while pushing NECA and Labour to bring bus routes back into public ownership as soon as possible.
  • Visible, active councillors — being present in the ward, listening to residents, and acting on concerns — not taking votes for granted.
  • Standing against hate — urging Gateshead Council to do everything in its power to resist hate in our community, including hate from political groups such as Reform, and to protect all residents and all protected characteristics from hate speech.
  • A vibrant, safer community — tackling issues directly and creating opportunities so people feel safe, optimistic, and proud of where they live.

“Being in the North East my whole life has shown me that government shortcomings can worsen an area very quickly and I aim to mitigate these problems!” — Cameron Wallace
