Emma Robinson is a finance professional and Mum of three children with additional needs.  She is interested in helping families, particularly those in a similar situation to hers. As a councillor she would use her experience and skills to work with the Family Hubs and community groups working with family and education issues.

I'm passionate about our community, and I believe it deserves a voice that works for everyone. Gateshead has a lot of potential, and by working together, we can make it a cleaner, safer, and better place to live.

I believe in democracy that empowers every resident, freedom of choice, and freedom of speech and expression. For too long, local politics has been a source of division, but I believe we can find common ground on the issues that matter most to our daily lives.  I work hard, I will be a present, accountable, and independent voice for you, your family and our neighbours.

Our area has a rich heritage, and I want to see it thrive again. That means:

• Championing education and support for all families: I stand for better access to diagnosis and provision for special educational needs, especially for conditions like ADHD and dyslexia, ensuring working-class families have the support they need to help their children succeed.
• Improving our streets and public spaces: Tackling issues like cleaner streets, better lighting, and increased public safety so we can all feel secure in our community. I'm already working hard to listen to residents and work with the council to deliver these practical improvements.
• Creating accessible green spaces: Protecting and improving our parks and green areas for everyone to enjoy, whether for exercise, recreation, or dog walking. These spaces are vital for our physical and mental well-being.
• Tackling environmental issues:  I'm committed to addressing environmental problems that directly affect our everyday lives, particularly light pollution, by working to get the council, businesses, and homeowners to use the right lights to make our streets safer and more secure without harming our environment and disrupting our much-needed sleep.  

I'm someone who will work hard, listen to your concerns, and make sure that decisions are made with the community, not for them. Together, we can build a future we can all be proud of.

Activist Catherine Knell

Catherine Knell is a retired teacher. She came second in the last local election.

She has lived in the area for nearly 12 years, and has a good understanding of the issues facing residents across Chowdene. She is keen to work on issues like repairs and anti-social behaviour.
