Shakuntala Beadle is a child psychotherapeutic counsellor who works with children and young people across Tyneside. She says: ‘Children’s mental health is my passion and if I am elected I would work to encourage Gateshead schools to employ mental health professionals. This was in both the Labour and Liberal Democrat’s general election manifestos but the Government have not yet provided the necessary funding. I would also push the Council to train everyone who works in schools about children’s mental health.
